PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

TRUST YOUR MOMMY INSTINCTS!!!

Okay. Here is goes. A week and a half ago Miss K started getting a pretty bad diaper rash. I mentioned it to Dr. Hottie when we went to see him. He said to put A&D on it and keep her in a clean diaper all the time. It was better for a few days, then it got worse. He calls the house to follow up on something else and I mention the rash to him again. He said to put Neosporin on it. Then coat it with A&D. Just got worse. Now it is bleeding and it is raw. Call and talk to the phone nurse. She tells me to put Lotrimun on it and coat it with A&D. At this point I am thinking I should be buying stock in A&D. I ask the nurse just how bad does it have to be before they want to see her. Her answer....they don't want to see her for a diaper rash. Whatever. Today it was the worst it has ever been. Now she is screaming everytime I touch her bottom when I am cleaning it. That's it. I call the doctor and tell them I NEED to bring my child in for a DIAPER RASH. I knew that something was wrong. I knew I should have brought her in when it first started. Dr. Hottie wasn't available, so we saw another doctor. The first thing she says is...ummmm, it isn't a diaper rash. I KNEW IT! So, now we are on more meds. Dr. H said that we should see an inprovement within the next 48 hours.

As I am typing this, Miss K is sitting in her baby bath tub in a warm water baking soda bath...in front of the television in the living room. She's having her own little party with her ducks. Lots of fun. I just hope that she starts getting better soon. Brian is leaving to go out of town tomorrow morning to play golf for the weekend. So, we are on our own this weekend! Keep your fingers crossed that it goes well!

Let me guess...yeast infection right? If so...I think you need to find a new pediatrician. A diaper rash is totally diff't from a yeast.

Nope..not a yeast infection. Strep infection. We love our ped. I don't care for his phone nurses though.

poooooor baby!!
and ALWAYS trust your mommy instincts...ALWAYS it is always right on target!!!
I must admit that my first thought was yeast too, and I would have brought her in for it as well to get the script, I have never done lotrimin, I always get a script for nystatin....Hope her bottom starts feeling better soon.

Oh poor baby....and poor Mommy! But sounds like you now have a plan of action to help sweet thing to feel better.

I agree...go with your instinct....even if it proves to be wrong -- nothing is lost...it is only when you DON"t listen that there are complications.

Hang in there friend...missed you at the crop at Scrap It Friday night...I really like it when you are there. Have a great weekend and week.

That makes me mad. Why didn't they tell you it could be something else on the phone? I mean BLEEDING! When you said that the other day it horrified me. I would have been down at the Dr. screaming. I think you might need to change Dr's after all. Hottie or no hottie. LOL Sounds like they just don't care enough. My Pediatrician is getting on my nerves big-time lately. She doesn't ever do anything for us it seems. It's a tough call to change though. Love you!

Strep. WOW! Poor Kid :( Is she better today?

Thanks everyone. I asked Brian what he thought and he said that it wasn't the doctor's fault. That everything I was telling them indicated a diaper rash. And that they can't KEEP me from bringing her in for a diaper rash. Strep does look just like a diaper rash. I only talked to Dr. Hottie about it once and it wasn't bad at that point. I am not impressed with the phone nurses at all. But, when I called and told them I was on my way to their office, so they needed to fit me in, they had no problem with that. She is a MILLION times better now that she is on the amoxicillan!

When my DD was a baby, she got a diaper rash like that, bleeding and all, right around the same time she was cutting like 3 teeth. My ped told me to wash the area, dry with hair dryer, dot on Mylanta, dry with hair dryer and then coat on Vasline. It worked. They even did it as the daycare!
